    Smile The Rossiters Of Oldbury

    Hi,
I am trying to find information about the marriage and descendents of Arthur Rossiter ( born 1854 in Great Elm, Somerset) and his wife Mary Ann ( maiden name unknown born Oldbury in 1859).

I know that they had at least 6 children all born in Oldbury including:-

    Maud born 1883
    Louisa born 1889
    Lilly Daisy born 1892
    Selina born 1894
    Arthur Jnr born 1896
    William James born 1898

I'm looking for information about who they married and about their children.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    best wishes

    Default Arthur ROSSITER

Do you have the 1901 census image, because according to that Mary Ann was born in Chippenham, Wilts, and their eldest daughter Maud was born in Rowley Regis, Staffs. All the other children were born in Oldbury as you say. If you would like a copy of the image, let me know and I will send you one.

Further to the above message, I have also found Arthur in the 1871/81/91 census records. In 1871 he is with his parents, in 81 he is a boarder in Chippenham (unmarried in both censuses) and in 91 he is married and in Oldbury. If you would like copies, I will send them to you.

    Hi Janet,

    Thanks for your postings.

I have this message posted on a number of sites and was given a 1901 printout, but misread it when I posted as when I checked Maud is from Rowley Regis and Mary Ann is from Chippenham,Wilts.

Another printout turned up a daughter Agnes S. Rossiter born in Oldbury in 1884. She had been staying with her uncle Alfred George Rossiter who lives in Cardiff.

This is quite exciting for me as the possibility now exists that I have relatives living in Worcestershire who are the descendents of Arthur's children.

I've posted here in the hope that I might either make contact with someone from the family researching their past or find more information about who Arthur's children married and what children they had if any.

I'd certainly appreciate copies of the census images if it's not a problem

    best wishes

I need to contact some local newspapers in Oldbury firstly to ask if they have any information about my ancestors and secondly to post a letter inviting descendents to contact me.

Can anyone advise me as to what local newspapers there are in Oldbury and supply and address where I can contact them please?
