I've ben given another reference to Beatrice and William's marriage, but to an earlier date, as follows:
Name: Beatrice Florence Belsey Becker
Birth Place: Pennington London England
Age: 40
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1877
Father Name: John Belsey
Mother Name: Victoria Roberts
Spouse Name: Charles William Cropley
Spouse's Age: 48
Spouse Estimated Birth Year: abt 1869
Spouse Birth Place: Grenville P
Spouse Father Name: Wm Cropley
Spouse Mother Name: Annie Murphy
Marriage Date: 10 Jan 1917
Marriage Place: Lanark
Marriage County: Lanark
Family History Library Microfilm: MS932_422
Perhaps they were married twice to satisfy different family religions?

From the 1881 Census, Canada, Agnes was Agnes Theresa Sheedy, one of eleven children, father Dinnes Sheedy b. Ireland and mother Jane (Barr) b. Scotland.
I have yet to discover a marriage for Beatrice and Frank (Franz?) Becker. A number of Franz Beckers are found in England circa 1901.

The most likely explanation is that there was no marriage. In the 1901 census, Beatrice was described as an unmarried mother of 2 children. By August 1903 when she sailed to Montreal, she was describing herself as a widow & she & her children had acquired new surnames. Beatrice was going to the New World to start a new life - why burden herself with the stigma of being an unmarried mother & her children as being illegitimate? Much easier to invent a husband. The conveniently deceased Mr BECKER probably never existed.
