    Question Richard William Smirthwaite/Elizabeth Newman

Looking for the deaths of Richard & his wife Elizabeth. Tried searching BMD indexes without success. Only have approx dates..Richard abt 1942 & Elizabeth abt 1932. Richard was a butcher & lived in Bearwood Rd, Smethwick twds end of his life. He was born in Wolverhampton in 1855, his wife born in Purton, Wiltshire also 1855. Possibly burial (cremation ?) for both at Uplands cemetery in Smethwick.

Just to clarify the above, when you write that you've tried the BMD indexes - is this freebmd, or the full General Register Office (GRO) index?

Which index have you looked at?
The freeBMD indexes do not yet cover that period fully - especially deaths.

You would need to look in the index on a pay site which will cover that period.
