    Default BRITISH LIBRARY NEWSPAPERS 1800-1900

For researchers looking for data on their Jewish families who were in business or involved in accidents or crimes take a look on the British Library Newspapers 1800-1900 online site.
This site is a subscription one but does allow you to look at brief extracts of data.
Importantly for those with Jewish traders who advertised regularly it gives an overview of where they traded and for how long. This site should also be linked to the London Gazette archives including Edinburgh and Dublin which also contain online data on businesses and traders many of whom went bankrupt. The JGSGB also contains excellent summary data on London Jewish traders and there is also the HistoricalDirectories site University of Leicester plus many CDs on London and provincial traders.

See also the Jewish Museum website. A (free) search is under the "Collections" tab.
