    Default Kingswinford marriage

If anyone has access to Parish records from Kingswinford could you Please look at this entry for me

    WILLIAM PARTON
    Marriages:
    Spouse: SARAH COOPER
Marriage: 14 NOV 1797 Kingswinford, Stafford, England

can you please tell me if there is any more information provided and if it says if they are both of the parish of Kingswinford

If you can see the original entry (not transcribed) does it look like it could possibly be Partoon and not Parton.

Thank you in advance to anyone looking up this entry

Unfortunately there are a few Sarah Coopers who could be yours, born in Kingswinford, but there do not appear to be any William Partons
It was tradition to marry in the parish of the wife.

I have everything on Sarah and her family, I just can't find her marriage. I know she married William Partoon and the Kingswinford entry is the only one that stands a possibility of being them.

Their first child was born very soon after this marriage date so I was thinking maybe she got married outside of her own parish to save embaressment.
All Sarahs family come from West Bromwich but i have searched all the parish records available for west bromwich at the Family History centre in Smethwick Library and found nothing that looks like it could be them.

William and Sarah Partoon' first child was:

    ANN PARTOON
Christening: 07 MAY 1798 All Saints, West Bromwich, Stafford, England
    Parents:
    Father: WILLIAM PARTOON
    Mother: SARAH

    SARAH COOPER
    Marriages:
    Spouse: WILLIAM PARTON
Marriage: 14 NOV 1797 Kingswinford, Stafford, England

I am a bit confused. This is on the IGI. It indicates that the marriage was in Kingswinford. Why would you think it was anywhere else? You can check the entry by ordering the film at the LDS and look for the entry yourself. As the marriage was 1797, it is unlikely to have any additional info though.

I know this marriage is at Kingswinford but Sarahs local parish was All Saints West Bromwich. Most marraige records i have seen from around these date usually say otp. meaning of the Parish or if indeed it is my Sarah Copper it will say of West Bromwich

    Aaah! I see.
I think your best bet is to oreder the film.
How strange that there are so many Sarah Coopers born in Kingswinford and your one wasn't though. Makes me think that this isn't your ones marriage at all, but William Paton is too much of a coincidence not to be your one.

Thank you for the e-mail LittleSpark re:

Marriages at St. Marys, Kingswinford did not start until 1837 - earlier ones were held at Holy Trinity, Wordsley.

    Here are marriage details:
William PARTON of this Parish and Sarah Cooper of the same, were married in this Church by Banns, this 14th day of November 1797 by me, John Bradley, Minister.
Witnessed Jane Hopson & Willm. Ireland

This is not my William Partoon and Sarah Cooper as Sarah was definatley from West Bromwich, It's the only marriage I have found a record of that may have been them, but I have been unable to find the record to look at so this really was a great help to me.

    Thank You
