    Question Morgan.

I am trying to trace descendants of Sara Morgan born 1840 in Ireland (very vague I know). She worked as a domestic servant in Liverpool for a wealthy shipping family and in 1889 she was godparent to my father. Any information would be appreciated.

    Meredith,

Is this your Sara MORGAN in the 1871 census, living at Claremont House on [looks like...] Liverpool Road in Great Crosby, Lancashire?

    Name / Age in 1871 / Birthplace / Relationship / Civil Parish County/ Occupation
John Decosta 49 Liverpool, Lancashire, England Head Ship Owner
Margaret Decosta 44 Melling, Lancashire, England Wife
John Decosta 23 Liverpool, Lancashire, England Son Broker's Clerk
Charles A Decosta 20 Bootle, Lancashire, England Son Ship Owner's Clerk
France J Decosta 6 Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Son Scholar
Mary M Decosta 5 Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Daughter Scholar
Sarah Morgan 31 Ireland Domestic Servant
Mary Maner 19 Ireland Domestic Servant

    Source information: RG10/3837
    Registration district: West Derby
    Sub-registration district: Crosby
    ED, institution, or vessel: 4
    Folio: 45
    Page: 14
    Household schedule number: 57

    Hope this helps.

    Trish

If Trish has found the right Sarah Morgan, then she was still with the family in 1881, still unmarried. She would still have been unmarried in 1889 if she signed as Sarah Morgan. As by then she would have been aged 48, it is unlikely that she left any descendants.

    Smile Morgan.

Thanks to Trish and Wirral for your replies to my query regarding Sara Morgan. You certainly have the right lady (and her employers). I was hoping to find a relative of Sara who could give me information about her. Anyway, what you have given me is useful and I am grateful. Thank you.

    Meredith.
