In 1871 your Frederick was living with his family in Cublington, Bucks:
Christopher age 36
Ann 34
Arthur
George
Frederick
Christopher
Henry
Mary
In 1881 he was a milkman, lviing in St. Pancras.
In 1891 he was a Private in the First Division, Royal Marine Infantry.
If I have the right Frederick who died in 1915 in Aylesbury, he was 51 years old, so perhaps did not servicve in the first war.
Maybe someone can help with the Boar War query?

You mention two different forcesl the Army and The Royal Marines - do you know which is correct?
Do you know if he was officer, or other rank?
If he served in the RM - have you downloaded his service record from The National Archives' Doucmentsonline? - see Royal Marines Service Records ADM159
This may indicate if he landed with the Naval Brigade during the South African (Boer) War.
Have you tried the CWGC or the database of soldiers who died in the Great War?

...........further to my last; documents online has an entry for Frederick HALSEY that appears to be a rough match for the information you have given. It would cost you £3.50 to download the service record.

What does the service record say he was doing for the period of the Boer War? Can you read the names of any ships or stations? Is there anything recorded under medals awarded?
