Hi
I am looking William Creasey b about 1758 maybe in Sibsey. He married Ann? and had 2 children Joseph b 1783 Sibsey d 1856 Friskney and Nancy b c 1788 (Chr 1 Jan 1788 Sibsey) bur 18 Jan 1788 Sibsey, ann bur 15 Jan 1788 Sibsey. William then married Hannah/Anna Carr 22 May 1794 Boston and had 5 children all christened Sibsey.
Son Joseph married Elizabeth Doughty 29 10 1818 Leake and had 10 children (all Christened and some buried in Friskney) his son Edward b 1834 Friskney immigrated to Australia where he married Mary Jane Whiley (her father Isaac Whiley also immigrated to Australia from Friskney).
I was wondering if there was any connection between the Whileys and the Creaseys in Friskney before Edward and Isaac immigrated to Australia. Isaac's mother Betsey Whiley (nee Whiting) is buried in Prospect cemetery NSW next to Eliza Creasey (Edward's sister)
I will be grateful of any help
Regards
Fiona

Hello cousin Fiona

Did you mean that they are in the same grave?
Do you know who owned the grave/s? Is it possible to find out?
I see that Betsy has died a few years after her granddaughter, Mary Jane, married Edward Creasey. Was she living with them when she died? That may be the only connection.ChristineR

Hi Cousin
According to the MI for St Bart's at Prospect Betsey's grave is beside Eliza Creasey. I haven't actually seen it for myself but I have a photo of Betsey's grave. Eliza's death record on NSW bdm lists parents Joseph and Elizabeth same as Edward.
Betsey and Eliza died in Sydney and Mary Jane and family were in the Bathurst, Hill End area. Mary Jane and Edward are buried at Bathurst.

Hi Fiona,
'A' William Creasy married an Ann Kirkby 21 May 1782 in Huttoft, according to the marriage index for Calcewaithe & Candleshoe deanery 1700-1837 published by Lincolnshire FHS. If you refer to something like streetmap, Huttoft is a bit out of the Sibsey/Friskney area, but as you don't know for certain where William was born, then the marriage is a possibility, as they could both have been born in the Huttoft area and moved to Sibsey after they married.
If by 'any connection between the Whileys and Creaseys' you mean marriage, then there are no Whiley/Creasey marriages in the LFHS-published Holland East deanery marriage index 1700-1837.
For any marriages 1837-1850, check out Spilsby registration district in the 1837+ marriage index.

Hi Pam
That marriage makes sense ... one of Joseph's children was Kirkby and there are other children with Kirkby in their name down through the generations.
Connection - I don't know but members of 2 families coming to Australia from the same villiage and then marrying out here......I have always wondered if they knew each other in Friskney or there was some sort of connection.
Thanks for your help

Hallo Fiona. I have no connections to the Creasey family or to Lincolnshire, but the name rang a bell because of a transcription project I did. You may be interested to read this thread in case there turns out to be a connection. If so, then the wanderlust was obviously in the family

Hi I have been doing some further research on the Creaseys and I have found that William Creasey was baptised in Brothertoft. I am also still searching for my elusive Samuel Whiley b c 1751 and because I have a theory that the Whileys and Creaseys might be connected (but have been unable to prove it ...... :-) ) So I was wondering if anyone can help me....is there a record of a Samuel Whiley being born in 1751 in Brothertoft or anywhere around that area

Hi
I've just been reading my copy of Samuel Whiley's will (I haven't read it for awhile) ........ and he bequests to Bletcher Creasey and refers to him as "my friend" and Bletcher is also an executor of Samuel's will. Bletcher is William's younger brother so there definitely was a connection between the 2 families. Samuel also owned propery in Leake as well as Friskney & Wainfleet. I've never been able to find Samuel's birth......where is Leake in relation to Friskney & Wainfleet? Maybe I should look there as well as Brothertoft.
Regards

Hi Fiona,
The map I always use is streetmap.co.uk.
You might find the Genuki page about Leake helpful when it comes to seeing references to Leake, Old Leake, and New Leake.
