Hi
Apologies if I am breaking any protocols by posting this query but I new this forum and I am hoping that someone may be able to help me.
I have traced my grandfathers birth place to No 1 Northumberland Street which I believe at the time (Jan 1909) was the address of the St Marylebone Workhouse and infirmary. His mother (who I dont believe ever married the father) is named on his birth certificate as Julia Bridget Evans who was employed as a general servant. I have checked the 1911 census but can find no record of her at all. I think its possible that my grandfather was adopted from the infirmary but I do not seem to be able to get any sight of such records. Any thoughts/ideas on moving this forward would be most welcome. Geoff

There are plenty of St Marylebone documents from around that period that could potentially help. I think you need to spend some time at the London Metropolitan Archives searching.
(You could wait until Ancestry digitise them but global warming could have finished us all off before that happens)

Hello Geofdldn and welcome to the forum.

I have moved your posting to a thread of it's own. You may get more response this way.
Good Luck
