Hi, still plodding on with this and keep getting great breakthoughs but I need to find her death. She was last known in West Derby, Liverpool on 1911 census called Isabella McFarlane aged 72 from Argyllshire. She was living with her family, daughter Margaret Hamilton, Brother James McFarlane and his wife Mary, and Margarets children May, Mary and Isabella Hamilton.
Then she disappears!! I cannot find a death certificate for her. Based on her age in 1911 I have looked between 1911 and 1940 but nothing. I sent for a death cert for London (thinking she may have moved thre (!) but that was the wrong one.She had a sister in Glasgow so may have moved back there. Any ideas anyone please?![]()

You tried London, so presumably there was some kind of reason for that.
Did you see this one

Hi, and thank you for looking for me, but that was the one I sent for and was not 'my' Isabella.
I know her daughter Margaret Hamilton moved to the Isle of Man some time after the 1911 census - could be 5 yrs could be more - and she ended her days there in 49. However, I dont think Isabella went with her (cant find any sign of her burial) but know she had a sister mary in Glasgow so think she may have gone there. I know that for the rest of her life, her daughter Margaret sailed to Glasgow every 6 months to collect her pension so the link was still strong. I cannot get Scottish deaths on the site I use. Any idea of ways for me to search Scottish records please?
Many thanks

have you looked on scotlands people? if she is there you can download a copy of her death certificate for a few quid in around 5 mins and you will have all the info that you need then to identify her as yours instead of waiting weeks for a certificate

on the onfo that you have given there are 16 possibles on that web site, unfortunatley i dont have any credits so i cant see them, if you wish to do this yourself you buy the creidts at £6 per time and this would give you enough access to view and narrow it down to being one of yours.

It looks like the London idea was a bit of a non runner and most likely she was in Glasgow.
Most sites only offer GRO information which excludes Scotalnd and Ireland, probably the Isle of Man as well.
Before you start spending money I would go the the county forums on here. Way down on the front page and you will find Scottish County forums, I would bounce it around in there first.
Good luck

erm well seeing as i have managed to narrow things down a fair bit for her and the possibility of it being one of the 16 i have seen, but when i tried and just used that date of birth as 1839 it came back as one person on the files then i would say the chance of finding her lady is very great, but she needs to spend a little bit of cash, £6, to see, i would say this one i have got it narrowed down to is a high chance. and unless anyone on here has spare credits they need using up i would just go ahead personaly speaking, but then again im impatient!!

Hi and thanks to everyone for their help and input. Afraid though I am still at a standstill Fired up by your enthusiasm I registered with Scotlands People and searched but none of them was my Isabella McFarlane. SO where the heck did she disappear to? Defin West Derby in 1911, then nothing! Cant find her in UK nor Scotland. She was 72 in 1911 so cant see her gadding about too far from home and of course in those days travel wasnt like today so where oh where!!! Any ideas always welcomed with open arms and thank you all again - you are stars!

One of mine emigrated to Australia to join her other children - she was in her 80s.She was 72 in 1911 so cant see her gadding about too far from home and of course in those days travel wasnt like today
Bear in mind that her age might be incorrectly given at the time of her death. Did you see the one that dawn/karen was mentioning as near the age?ChristineR
