From the NFHS CD Benjamin Robinson married Amy Chambers at Nuthall on 10/04/1748.

Christine - Thank you for that. She married William Sims in Laneham in 1750, gave birth to two children, then died in 1755 with no age given. It is a fair distance from Nuthall to Laneham, but this is the nearest I have got to a solution. I almost sure it is William's second marriage (perhaps even his third), so to marry a widow is a distinct possibility. I must try to find if there is a burial for Benjamin Robinson.

He's not on the NFHS CD, at least there are 6 but none that fit into the time scale.

I'll have a look at Phillimores marriages for you.

    Eileen,

I've only got a few crumbs of info. Neither marriage in 1748 or 1750 is in the Licences. The marriage in 48 shows Benjamin Robinson as being from Cossal but doesn't say if they were single or widowed. The 50 marriage is on 28 May 1750 but I suppose you have this date already and that doesn't state single or widowed either.

If you've got any other marriages you want checked let me know the dates.

    Default Aimiable Robinson

Christine - thank you again. I am awaiting delivery of Rod's CD of Phillimore marriages and have had some fiche from Notts FHS over the years. Seen the Licences as well, I had two volumes on semi-permanent loan from my local library some years ago - they said I could keep them until someone else requested them, which was about five months, took out reams of stuff 'just in case'. About two thirds of my lines are found in the County.

    Best wishes - Eileen

    Default Bellamy conenction

I have some Bellamy ancestors in roughly the right areas at roughly the right time, specifically three brothers:
    • Richard, born Sturton cum Fenton 1706
    • Gervase, born Ordsall 1709
    • Stephen, born Sutton cum Lound 1713.
Not to mention their Dad, Daniel, who I'm guessing (at present) was born about 1680 (but I don't know where), and who married Mary Thorpe (christened 7/1/1682 in Sturton cum Fenton) on 1/5/1703 in Sturton cum Fenton.

Gervase's daughter (born 1743 in Ordsall), married the earliest of my Wells ancestors, Thomas, on 20/5/1765 in Ordsall. I also have birth dates for several of her siblings.

I have checked the local graveyards, but didn't find a single Bellamy headstone!

Hope this is of some use. Any connection between our trees, do you think?

    Default Bellamy

Phil - thank you for that. I tried without success to send a private e-mail, but you have stipulated not to receive them. All my details are packed and in the car boot as I am going away tomorrow for several weeks. If you would like to send an e-mail after July 10th we can continue.

My recollection is that Matthias Newstead married Eleanor Bellamy in North Muskham in 1740 something, and I think I had decided that she may be a connection of said Gervase - born in North Clifton in 1722. but I need to confirm this.

    Eileen,
I've reset my profile to allow personal emails - I don't remember setting it to "off", but must have done.
A quick check on tht IGI at familysearch.org. shows church transcripts giving Eleanor's father as John Bellamy. I've got a John as Gervase's son, born 1748 in Ordsall, but there are also other branches of the Bellamy clan. There is someone on genesreunited researching the Bellamies who might be able to help. He and I have agreed we are cousins of some remote type!
Have a good holiday (or, depending on when you get this, hope you had one!) and I'll hear from you in due course I hope.
    Phil
