Hi all
I'm writing up the story of one particularly interesting sort-of-ancestor (not blood related but married to my 2xg grandmother) who was apprenticed at the age of 14 to a baker. He was born in 1851 so this would have been around 1865ish.
I don't know much about apprenticeships, and was wondering how long he would have served as an apprentice? By 1871 he's listed as a baker in the employ of another baker, the relationship being given as "servant".
Any help or advice very welcome.
