I was wondering if anyone can help me, as I have hit a bit of a brick wall? I am trying to find information about my husband's grandfather who he hardly knew, due to his mother being adopted when she was a small child, by her stepfather and she only got to meet her father, about 6 months before he died. So little is known.
His name was Lawrence/Laurence Ernest Guy and he lived in Eastbourne, suspected to have been born there also. There is talk that his family originated from Chalvington or the Chiddingly area... but no connection has been made if this is the case, just suspicion. He was born circa 1925 and died circa 1995/1996, also in Eastbourne.
Lawrence's father is also believed to have committed suicide, but I am not sure if this is fact or not. If that helps.
I hope there is someone who maybe able to help, as at present there is no access to any census records available and no relevant information on the lds site either.
Thank you in advance.

Thank you Willow.
I've now managed to track the possible family back from that info. Just got to get my hands on a certificate now to prove it.
