Default Hello all. PHILLIPS / BRACKENBURY LEIC/LINCS

    Hi,
I am quite lucky in that I became interested in my family history when I was 10 and now some 20 years later I have my original research from then, this includes my handwritten notes from when I talked to Grannies and those uncles and aunties, who were really my fathers. Sadly they are all gone now but not their memories of who was who and little stories etc. Some of these like 'Owen died in a boat in WW1' I have now discovered actually meant Owen joined the Royal Navy and died when HMS Bulwark exploded Near Sherness in WW1. I still have many similar bits like this to discover, which keeps me going.
Now with the internet and census' online researching is so much easier and faster, but I am here as I was surfing the net for a surname and came across a link to a thread on here. It was from someone sharing my G.G.Grandfather. I am hoping to meet similar people and find that bit more out about my roots.
Furthermore I have gone back to 1800's and hit walls and need advice and help.
    Many thanks
    Paul

Hello Paul and welcome to Brit-Gen

How wonderful to have some of the memories of the older generations already recorded. It's finding where those little snippets of information fit into the family tree that are interesting. I see that you are finding your way round, so keep posting your questions and we will do what we can to help you find the answers.

    Enjoy yourself!
