For those with subscriptions to Ancestry they have launched indexed searches for births from 1916 to 2005, although it seems sporadic when you search. Seems to have reverted to 1984 to 2005 at the moment.

And I have noticed that some are missing vol and page #'s plus no images. Makes it kind of hard to source or order material.
Sadly, our friend Vanessa, passed away 29th. February 2012.
Life is brief. Time is a thief.

Thanks, Geoff, that's going to be a useful index (if I keep up my sub, being p***** with A#§¤ at the moment!)
I've just checked to see if I exist - even put the wrong year to try to fool them - and I actually do!!
< me! It worked pretty quickly, too, but that might be because I'm burning the midnight oil.

Looks fine at the moment. Tried lots of people and they're all there. The weird part is, a couple of them are there twice. Two identical registrations - mother's maiden name, district, month everything. I wonder if it's a mistake or there actually are two... I'm inclined to think it's an error.

They have added Births 1916 - 2005, but what has happened to Births 1837 - 1915 ??? It is now a clone of Free BMD, which isn't complete. It used to be that you could put in a name, quarter & year , then search the scans yourself to verify or find missing Free BMD entries.
Will Marriages & Death be ruined next !
