    Hi Grandma,

Me again!! I found the reference number for the marriage of Ann Coates and James Meehan Sept 1889 Manchester 8d 363. You can order the marriage certificate from www.gro.gov.uk that's if you don't already have it.

Let us have more info for us members to get our teeth into!!

    Default Bridget Mauller

    Hi again Grandma,

I know Bridget Mauller was from Kildare, Ireland. She was a widow and her occupation was hair dresser. Henry was a Screw Rivet Maker and Theresa was a Fibre Drawer.

I think I've found the marriage for Henry and Theresa - 1868 March at Salford 8d 46. Theresa's maiden name was Menella. Does that sound right? I thought Bridget was perhaps Theresa's mother but the surname is wrong unless it's a transcription error. Do you think that Sweeney was the maiden name of Bridget?

Anyway, let me know I may not be correct
    Best wishes

    Elaine.

P.S. If you order the marriage certificate for Henry and Theresa from the gro it will give the father's name and address so you will then get the correct maiden name for Theresa.

    Hi Grandma yet again

Sorry but I seem to have got hooked on your tree!!

I have found Henry Coates aged 4yrs old with his parents John and Ann Coates. John was a Coach Maker born in Nottinghamshire and his wife Ann was from Ireland. This was in the 1851 census. They lived at 2 Austin Street, St John's Parish. I think it says Austin St, it's hard to read on the original census document?? Does this ring any bells with you??

Let me know, I tend to get carried away once I start and I might be climbing the wrong tree!!

    Bye for now.

    Elaine.

    Hi Anne,

I was hoping you would be on here tonight. I found this info on Ancestry.co.uk. I gather you are not a member. There are loads of different sites that you can trace your ancestors on, it's just a matter of finding out what suits you and your pocket! Ancestry normally offer a 14 day free trial. There are some free sites too like Freebmd which is where I found the marriage for Henry and Theresa. FMP have the 1911 census which has just been launched but you have to pay for credits on that site and the 1911 censuses can work out expensive! They have the other census and bmd too.

If you want me to help in any other way just let me know. Yes, I think we should be friends afterall I spent some of my afternoon hooked on your tree!!

    Best wishes

    Elaine.
