I'm not sure I have the right forum really ,but can anyone tell me how I might find records of nurses in training about 1880-1887. I believe the hospital may have been St Thomas London.

Unfortunately, you're just too early for the Royal College of Nursing's "Nursing Record", which is online but didn't start until 1888. You might find some biographies in later issues. Google for "RCN Archives" (without the quotes) and choose the result that includes "BROWSE JOURNALS · SEARCH JOURNALS".

As with so many subjects, TNA has a research guide for Civilian Nurses scroll down to paragraph 3 for some ideas on where to look for 19th century records.
