Anyone to whom I have promised a look-up at Manchester Central Library should not think I have forgotten - honest
I have not got around to going yet this year - but am getting withdrawal symptoms, so will certainly be there soon - watch this space ...!

I, too, am missing good old Manchester Central. I've had other projects for a while that have claimed my weekly day off, but like Barbara, I'll be back soon - I need to finish my Smalls for a start (I love saying that...)

So, Barbara - I may well see you there soon. If you spot a middle-aged harpy in specs peering at Cheadle PRs and rubbing her ever-worsening arthritic neck, you'll know you've found me.

could one of you lovely ladies.. check the following baptism at St. James, Gorton.
Alice Bradshaw, 30 April 1843, father Samuel Bradshaw, mother could be Hannah, Anna or Fanny! would like the occupation of father to make sure I have the right family and ancestor.
and one marriage at Cathedral: William Skinner to Elizabeth Cheetham, 19 Aug 1855, Manchester Cathedral, details of parents and witnesses. (brother of a direct ancestor, would tidy things up !)
Just wish I was into family history when I was at Mcr Poly in the 70's

Details noted, Mona - will do. I'll have to do these first though - once I get into my Smalls, I'll be there all day.... You're on a winner with St. Jas with me, however. Many of my Stokes lads are in Gorton and I need to nip there for my Mary Ann Taylor in about 1808, so I'll grab that one for you. Won;t be this Friday though - we have a Burns night at home and have to do a lot of preparation. This will be next Friday now - the 30th. OK?

Now come on, Barbara - baggsy me! Actually, I could be doing Mona's look-up in Gorton while you have Cheadle - but woe betide you afterwards... Just to clarify - you're not a Cheadle Wilkinson are you? I have Cheadle Wilkinsons - George and Job and that ilk, singers at the church?

No - not a Cheadle Wilkinson - only a Wilkinson by marriage - and they mainly come from Preston!!
My interest in Cheadle is James Metcalfe and Charlotte Gosling who married at St Mary's in 1782 and had children - mostly baptised at High Street Presbyterian Stockport - amongst them, my 3xgreat grandmother Charlotte. I looking for information about James and Charlotte, returning to them after a gap of a few years when they proved very elusive and extremely infuriating ....!!!!

Mona - are you still after these records? I have been to MCL today - but ran out of time - too busy hogging the Cheadle records before Mythical Marian could get hold of them ...!! Not that it did me much good, but that's another story ....!
I'll keep them on my list if you still need them, although it may be some weeks before I go again!
