    Default Liverpool Street Directory 1935?

A relation, Alexander Halliday, appears in shipping records on the "Duchess of York" from Montreal arriving Liverpool 29 June 1935, address going to is 1 Woolton Road Liverpool. Does anyone know if street dirctories exist for that time and who was at that address? She returned to Montreal leaving Liverpool in October 1935, he would have been 72 years old at that time.
    Many thanks for any help.

Kelly's Directories were published for Liverpool until the 1960s. I do not have one for 1930s, but my 1968 volume confirms that there are two Woolton Roads within the city. One is in Garston, south of the centre, and its No. 1 was a long-established pub, the Red Lion (now closed), with a Salvation Army Citadel (not a hostel) next door, unnumbered, but where 5 would be.
The other runs from Church Road, Wavertree to Gateacre village. Curiously, its odd numbers start at 87 !
I don't think this is much help, and there has probably been no change in things between the 30's and 60's, apart from filling-in with new housing.
I hope someone else can think of a better solution.

In the 1940 Kelly's Directory, No.1 Woolton Road Garston was named as the "Red Lion Hotel" & the proprietor was Alex. THOMPSON.

Many thanks for the replies. maybe the Red Lion had accommodation hence Alexandra Hallidays destination. I do not recognise the name Alex Thompson but will seek out a directory nearer to 1935 to see if it gives any further clues.

    Hi Colin
As Wirral & Daggers say the results are the same as I have the 1938 Directory.
Directories also normally only give heads of households not separate occupants like a census.

    Cheers

    Maureen,
Thank you for your help. Perhaps I should try Electrol Rolls.
