    Default Webbers from Stogumber

Hi, my great grandmother was Ellen Mary Webber born 1882 in Stogumber, daughter of George and Mary Ann (nee Taylor). Her brothers and sisters were; George, Walter, Emily, Alice, Sarah Jane, Ernest John, Herbert, Alma, Oliver, Amelia, William Henry, Roland and Lily. George and Walter were born in wiveliscombe and the others were born in stogumber.
Ellen Mary married Ernest George Coles(born Calloway) in St Decumans.
Whilst chasing this rather large lot around I have gathered alot of information on the Coles, Taylor, Webber and Calloway families in the west somerset area and would be delighted to share.
Likewise if anyone has any connections I would love to hear from you, with thanks, Donna

    Smile coles of fitzhead etc

If you go to Google and enter Ian Sage. Go to third picture and click, then to
Fitzhead and click David Cheek you will find your info plus for Wiveliscombe.
1851 Census shows John Coles with his parents John and Elzabeth.
John is said to be born Ash Priors but his marriage says Wiveliscombe and there is a baptism there. Elizabeth [Upham] was bap 1804 Fitzhead. Good Luck!

    Smile Webber family connection

Hi My Great Grandmother was Sarah Jane Webber who married Edwin Beavan in 1894 in Cardiff when she was 17. Her father was named as George Webber ( Road Contractor ) according to her marriage certificate. The certificate was signed by an Alice Webber.

Default my great grandad herbert webber of stogumber

Hi I've just come across this post hope your still looking in on this site. I'm interested to find family in particular the webbers. My grandmother linda doreen webber (kingdom) had two sisters mary anne webber and joyce webber and their father was herbert webber. He came to the rhondda to become a postman when the mines were in full swing and married a girl from talgarreg west wales called eleanor rees. He was from stogumber and one of seven brothers and seven sisters. I know he was a prisoner of war in india in the boar war and that all seven brothers went to war and all survived. I believe there was a sister hannah who went away to london and wasn'tallowed to be spoken of and I remember talk of an auntie alice too.

I'd love to know much more please

    Hi

I have not much more information than that already indicated in my last post, namely that that my ggrandmother Sarah Jane Webber ( Beavan) lived in Stoghumber and worked as a servant on a local farm when about 14. One of her brother's possibly Herbert Webber was also a servant aged about 11 at this farm. She later married Edwin Beavan and they lived in Cardiff ( Roath ). Regards Helen Soper
