    Default UNIFORM QUERY??

    My grandfather Charles BOWN served in the Royal Navy during WW2. Most of his time was spent in the Med. and Egypt. For a period of time his records show him on 'Special Services' I have yet to find out what this meant.

    One thing that puzzles me is a photo with him wearing a khaki battledress jacket with 2 Bars on the epaulettes? Does anyone know what these denote? His rank was that of Stoker 1st. Class.
