Is it possible Norma, that the IGI entry for John Massam & Agnes Hampson Marriage Feb.2nd 1802 St.Johns Church Liverpool, may be the one? Perhaps Agnes was a 2nd name. I found a Mary Hampsons Christening 1786 Ashton under Lyne, but none for an Agnes Hampson..
clutching at straws again?
1841 has a Mary Hassam 65 at Walton on the Hill..sub.reg.Formby, along with 'Thomas Hassam 10.Happy Families

Count your Blessings, they'll all add up in the end.

Yes it could be that it was her second name, or she could have dropped her first name,
that was the Mary on the 1841 cencus in Formby.
I have been looking for John`s birth, but I can`t find that, although I am not sure of his age, he may have been just a bit older than Mary.
anyway thanks for your help, and have a good christmas & happy new year!

I know it is not what you asked for but I wonder if you have seen this 1891 entry.
Mary Massam b. 1818, Litherland, Lancs
Widowed Mother living on own means. Deaf
John age 50
Mary age 52
Marion age 22
Robert age 20
John age 18
All born Formby.
Class: RG12; Piece: 3031; Folio 63; Page 21
Sorry, I have no idea where Litherland is.

I am trying to work out a relationship, she would be the daughter of your John and Mary but then she would not be the mother of this John and still have the surname Massam.
Sorry maybe there is not a connection.
I'm obviously clutching at straws too

Goodness, there are loads of John and Mary Massam's in Lancs
According to the England and Wales Christening records there are several children with parents John and Ann Massom and several others born to John and Mary.
The earliest child born to John and Mary is Elisabeth in 1788 so if they are yours that changes the marriage date.

Hi Mutley,
Thanks for your help, My John & Mary I think may have married around 1800, but can`t be sure, I know they had a son Andrew born about 1806, and my Ann born 1809 and Alice 1811, whether they had any other children I`m not sure.
Thanks again for looking.
Merry Christmas
Norma
