Hi Kelvin,
IGI gives two christenings for this couple;
Matilda Epps ch 14 Jun 1829 Molash Kent, parents Moses Epps and Elizabeth Batch number 1005364
Emma Epps ch 3 Mar 1833 Waltham Kent, parents Moses Epps and Elizabeth. batch number 1003531
Molash and Waltham are villages about 5 kms apart, SW of Canterbury, towards Ashford.

Hi again,
bearing in mind Moses is less common than John, James or William (you lucky thing!), this burial at Badlesmere, 2 kms or so from Molash (where Matilda was christened) will probably turn out to be one of yours;
from the National burial Index;
Moses Epps, 84, buried 20 Nov 1794 St Leonard, Badlesmere, Kent

I couldn't find the marriage, sorry.
I did notice on freebmd though, the death of a Matilda Epps in 1838, which could explain why you only know of Emma travelling with her parents. It's in the correct registration district for Waltham, so it could well be her;
Jun 1838 EPPS Matilda Bridge 5 20
Of course, it could turn out to be a coincidence, but if it IS her, the death certificate may give you some more clues.
cheers birdlip

Thanks again
I had forgotten about the FreeBDM website, I have just added it to my favourites.
That probably explains why Matilda didn't go to Oz.

Lis
it would be great to tidy up that part of my history. I can provide details of the family after Moses demise.
