Cool Army volunteers training in Mold, 1881

Can anyone help me with my enquiries on the Millitary volunteers stationed in Mold Flinshire around 1881.

I'm very interested in William Bishop who was posted there after his service in the British Army as a Sergeant Instructor and is recorded on the census in 1881. I know that he was not originally from mold and he had served in Dublin around 1870, having married an Irish girl about that time.

I'm very curious if there are any records or photos of the activities that would have taken place.

    Regards,

    Patrick

That part of Wales was the home ground of the 23rd Regiment of Foot which became the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in 1881. There would be volunteer battalions needing permanent staff instructors from the regular army
Searching on those titles might bring some background, and the HQ was at Wrexham. There is a museum at Caernarfon Castle.
