James Henry DREW - Cornwall Constabulary

I gather from reading other posts in this forum that it is rather difficult to winkle out historical information about police officers, but here goes, anyway.

In 1901 Census, James Henry Drew was recorded as being a police constable, aged 27, living in Castle Street, Looe. Oral history says that he did well in the force, rising to the rank of superintendent. I have sent off an enquiry to the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Heritage and Learning Resource (http://www.policeheritagecentre.co.uk/). In the meantime, does anybody have ideas where else I might look for details of his career, or have some knowledge of this person?

Either side of that post are summaries of the lives (as I know them) of his siblings, my grandfather's half first cousins.

The wonderful person from the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Heritage and Learning Resource got back to me with the news that she has far more records still to be catalogued than are already on her database - in other words, "snowed under", and working alone.

The National Association of Retired Police Officers was formed in 1919. if They can't help you directly they might be able to point you in the right direction
