Most UK libraries, and I believe larger libraries across the pond and in Australia, now subscribe to the Gale Group newspaper archives, giving free online access to their members (by entering their library card number as the password) in the Times Digital Archive and/or the 19th Century British Newspapers collection.
Bring up the home page of your local library and search for links to 'Online services' or '24-hour library'.Sue Mackay
