HI Doug;
Thanks for the nice try,, I was thinking about the occupation
would 'Commission Agent or Commercial Traveller be worth a
go ,,?? John K. had two buddies -commercial-travellers, I'm
wondering if that's why we can't find him, he is on the move,!!
I never found any kids,only their marriage, but I'm thinking they
may have called any after "Mary's' parents; (F) Thomas Hume
(M) Mary Blair; her grandparents; Andrew Blair & Betsy Dorward
John K. parents were 'John & Marion' can you look in 'Tradeston/Glas
area Doug for anything familiar,,,appreciate it
Cheers;

Cloggie, Cluggie, Clugston...diversity rules!
Hi Janey,
I was really pleased to stumble upon your posting about your Clugston relatives. Despite all the spelling variants, I think we may have relatives in common.
I am related to descendants of Matthew CLOGGIE (Born ~1792 Barony - Died 1867, Glasgow) who married Margeret McKENZIE / McINNES (Born ~1790, Glasgow) in Glasgow in 1817.
As far as I have figured out, Matthew and Margaret had a son Daniel CLOGGIE (Born 1824, Glasgow) who married (in 1847, Glasgow) Janet ECCLES (Born ~1825, Glasgow).
Their son Matthew CLOGGIE married (in 1873, Glasgow) Mary WILSON, who then had a son Matthew CLOGGIE who married Margaret WATSON...and the rest I suspect you know.
Please contact me privately and we can join the ancestral dots.

Hi Janey
I am researching the Thomson family also; can you tell me how you connect to John Thomson b 1849? If you can give me an e mail I can also send you various censuses with William clugston and Catherine McFarlane on them- 1881-1911. I have drawn a blank with the births of their children however and found the name change theory very interesting. I was told that they were related to Beatice Clugston but have been unable to find any connection and I wonder if the name was changed in order to make this claim? Beatrice Clugston was a well know philanthropist b 1827 d 1888.
Kind regards
Ruth
