Default death of Beatrice Emily O'Flaherty aka Jones

    Hello from Australia

I'm trying to find a death certificate for my grandmother Beatrice Emily Welch born 25 april 1905 at Folkstone, Elham, Kent.

She married James O'Flaherty at Folkestone, Elham Kent on 19 December 1925. I think James left the scene early after my father's birth in 1927 at Folkestone. Another mystery, stories are he went back to Ireland .

My father is probably an only child but there family stories that he had 1 or 2 (possibly twin) siblings that died.

I always knew Beatrice Emily as "Nanna Jones" and it was a family story that she had had 7 husbands. I've heard that my father had at least 1 "stepfather" .

Nanna Jones may have had to take in lodgers from time to time.

I have a letter from Nanna Jones dated 25 October 1979 when she was living at 98 Risboro Lane, Folkestone, Kent, she signed it "Nanna Jones".

She was a great character. I think her sister Lily Garrad also lived in Folkestone at that time.

I think she died sometime before 1990. My father went to England when she died and I remember him coming back to Australia and indicating that she may not have actually been married more than once (ie to James O'Flaherty). He also said that she didn't die in Folkestone where she lived. He said 'she got all the way down to......." and I can't remember where he said she died.

I am having a great deal of trouble finding a death certificate for Nanna Jones. In fact, I can't find it at all!!

I've been searching under O'Flaherty, Welch and Jones but with no luck.

    any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Carolyn

Are you sure you are searching the full indexes and not FreeBMD (or Ancestry) indexes, which will not go this far?

Thank you Peter. The index reference you gave to me has to be the right one. I'm going to send off for the death certificate today. I used to write to her each week as she wasn't well. I always had the feeling she died soon after I received that last letter.

    Regards

    Carolyn

    Default Jame's O'Flaherty

    Carolyn
I am the granddaughter of James O'flaherty and Gertrude Modes. I was unaware that my grandfather had another child. I do not know much about him as he past away before my parents were married. I wish I could be of more help. I was wondering if you have the address where he was born and where Mary Elizabeth Birt and Peter Evan O'flaherty were burried. I may be visiting England in July of 2013 and would like to see the home he lived in and visit our great grandparents graves. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you Sue. It is a bit confusing on Ancestry as to where to search.
