    Default It gets confusing, Nannyval

If you do multiple posts about the same thing, and people end up replicating searches.

My response on your first thread was for Violette Selfredge to have married Vicomte Jacques de Sibour, French war aviator (see https://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstrac...B366838A639EDE for New York article on that marriage, and for her
sister Rosalie (named after their mother), who became Princess Viazemsky. However I have now found that there was a 3rd daughter, Beatrice. I won't link that as it produces pop-ups.

There is a long and interesting article on Selfridge (well-illustrated), which says at the end that his family could not even afford a headstone for him when he died in poverty. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...-shopping.html

I'm lost now as to which daughter you are looking for as an ancestor.

Thank you and apologies if I was unclear. Rosalie, you gave me, is the link I am looking for. Yes there has been pages of wonderful stories written about the man, some of which I have been able to get hold of. My only interest is in the life and death of Rosalie.

    Default Rosalie

So far the only other thing I can come up with is the reference to her friendship with Sylvia Pankhurst, and the fact that Rosalie acted as her London representative for an African hospital Sylvia went off to sort out.

It seems quite mysterious. I'm going to have a look and see what happened to her husband - 1918 wasn't the greatest time to be a prince with a Russian-sounding name!

    Unhappy Going down...

https://www.iht.com/articles/2007/10/29/arts/FSELF.php describes GS going to live with his daughter Rosalie "and her fake Russian prince" in a "cheap rented apartment".

Sorry for not responding more quickly. Poor man !!!!! all those lovely ladies, the Dolly sisters were definately amongst the favourites when it came to buying lavish gifts. I am still struggling with Rosalie and Serge can find then in phone listing 1911. Maybe I am not entering the correct combination for De Bolotoff? It would be interesting to see if they have any children. Thanks again.
