I have been responding to Trotman's requests today and emailed the information he needed. All my posts to the thread were there until about 1/2 hour ago and now they are gone. I feel like I've been slapped _why?
I went back to see if he could view them all right and I see none of my posts but a whole lot of other people helping repeat the same info. There's something not quite here.

Not sure Vanessa. I certainly haven't touched anything.
I will see if I can discover what could have happened - I am sure it is nothing deliberate, possibly just some glitch in the system.

You can check my mailbox if you want proof. I seldom get to truly help someone due to time shifting and now I feel slighted.

Vanessa, I think Sue has discovered the reason for the issues you have experienced -
http://www.british-genealogy.com/for...t=37251&page=2
We merge posts sometimes when someone makes multiple posts asking about a specific person for example and, as I mentioned in the link above, if the times of posts being merged are the same, there is a chance that things will go wrong. Purely speculation on my part - I will need to run a couple of tests to see what happens in that case, but it does seem feasible that Sue has pinpointed the root of the problem.
I can only apologise if your posts are lost - it was certainly not a deliberate deletion or anything like that
As I mentioned on the link above, I will ask Pam if she can recover the posts, but I don't know if that is possible wit hthe software used by the forum.
Sorry
Mark

If Pam can't recover them, it sounds as though Vanessa still has copies in her mailbox. Hopefully, she'll be willing to resend to the merged thread. Even if somebody else has also said the same thing, it's worth doing - sometimes people need to hear something twice before they believe it!

It was me. I intended to merge two threads and clicked the wrong button. Once it is done there is no 'undo' button to put things right. I have no excuse I got it wrong and I am so sorry.
It was intended to tidy up two threads on the same subject. Please accept my apology, Vanessa, I did not intend it as a slight or a slap, really I didn't. I was trying to be helpful and I was just very trying!
That's the first and last time I will merge anything.Ladkyis
