Debbie, you might want to look in some of the Cambridge parishes as
Remington and Harriet had kids while resident in Regent Street (St. Andrew the Great parish) and Trumpington Street (St. Mary the Less parish)
Burial
1846 Sep 27 PRATT Lucy Ann otp 21 (Great Shelford)
might explain the missing "Louisa Ann" particularly since there doesn't seem to be a matching "Lucy Ann" birth.

Thanks Steve;
I think I may have found Jane Remmington Pratt but can not quite tie up the ends, can you or anyone else help?
I have a John Remmington Smith born in Kensington, London 1847, there is a John Smith age 4 together with a Henry Jos Smith age 8 both born in London living with their great Aunty Harriet Scott (nee Pratt) in Great Shelford.
Back in London there is a Jane Smith born in Shelford married to a James Smith, on the 1861 census there is a son age 14, R. Smith.
I can not find a marriage to a Jane Pratt to a James Smith, can find a Jane Pratt to a Daniel Smith but not the right Jane. There seem to be too many coincidences not to be the right one. I guess I could order the birth certificate but it is only distant cousins I am looking up so don't really want to spend out on that.
Does anyone know where I can find the Kensington records on line? Could not see them on IGI.
Kind Regards
Debs

This is one of the children of Remmington Pratt. Francis Gamble had the longest census description I have ever seen took up 3 rows. He was a master of Arts at Trinity College, A Lt in the Rifles (can't read the brigade) and a merchant of wine and spirits (I think) he also added a Justice of Peace to his string and often quoted them all on the census.......very strange!
One of Remmington's daughters married into real big money Lucy Pratt married George Hutchinson Hammond from Kensington (married in Cambridge), he only ever lived on dividends and at one point owned Kilverstone Hall Norfolk where it was used as a Shooting Box. Both boys went to Eton then Oxford and the daughter married a gentleman called Watkin James who also lived on his own means in a big house. They all moved to Burgess Hill.
In a few generation went from poor farm stock to rich......but can not find out who they married as in their pedigree?
Thanks for your continued support and help Steve

I have been trying to find PRATT's & Childs & Child without s and found some of them came from around same area as your PRATT's in Great Shelford wonder if my PRATTs could be related to yours. I need to buy certificates which I don't have money for right now

I have some (not all) of the local parishes around Great Shelford (inc. Gt Shelford) on cd so if you let me know who and where I can look some up for you if possible. Although not in a different continent living on a remote island and having no access to record offices etc. on foot I am often depending on the kind deeds of others.

Hi Debs,
I realise this thread is old but if you havent already found the information you were looking for i might be able to help.
I am a descendant of Charles Pratt and Sarah Dunk. Charles been my 3x great grandfather.
Charles and George arrived on the Fairlie on the 6 December 1838. George died not long after, with the only death index i could find been for a death for a George Pratt in 1838, i have ordered that cert. and hopefully should have it next week, to confirm its the right George. If it is that means he died within weeks of arriving here.
John and son Henry arrived in the Andromache in 1839 with John listed as widower aged 40 and Henry aged 15.
I am at the moment trying to find the right death index for John Pratt. And also like you i have lost some of the kids that appear to have been left behind in England. I was hoping that if i can obtain John's australian death cert. it may state some information about his kids such as are they living or not. Aussie certs. are great for information if filled out correctly.
I have a whole stack of information from the direct line from Charles down for the family in Australia so if i can help in any way just let me know.
