Hi There
I wonder if anyone can do me a favour or know about this family. I am researching the MOTTs from Fulbourn and Thomasin MOTT married John PRATT from Great Shelford.
I have found the baptism records for all the girls from the IGI but they don't appear to have the boys. I managed to find a few more details from the Cambridge FHS database 1801-1837 so I know there was a James PRATT born in 1806, a William PRATT died in 1807.
There are 3 other PRATTs that were prob. their sons as they were on the birth registers with their wifes:
Joseph PRATT who married Sarah, John PRATT who married Elizabeth and Thomas PRATT who married Lucy.
Has anyone access to the Great Shelford Parish Registers between 1788 and 1820 who could look up these boys births for me.
I have a number of CD of the local area to return the favour but not Great Shelford.
Thanks
Debbie

Thanks Steve
That is great, why does IGI often only have the girls names, most frustrating. Found out all though not the precise dates that Great Shelford is on Boyds index for marriages so that helps.
Kind Regards

Easy enough to obtain the data - my lookup methods are semi-automated.
(I say "IT techie", the wife says "uber-geek" - oh, well...)
Anyway, part of the process throws up other Pratt references that suggest connections with other surnames like DUCE:
1817 Aug 3 DUCE Jane Pratt dau of John & Sarah otp lab
1822 Dec 25 DUCE Thomas Pratt son of John & Sarah otp lab
Normally I just search for uppercase surnames, but I'd been working on something else and the case sensitivity was off.
The PRAT or PRATT family seem well distributed in Cambridgeshire as I have references showing in over 40 different parishes.
Connected family names are: ASTLE, AUSTIN, BELL, BLACKWELL, BLOWES, CLAYBYN, CLAYLYN?, DUCE, DUCE, DUCE, EVATT, FARNHAM, FISHER, FRANKHAM, FREEMAN, FREESTONE, FRENCH, FROMANT, GIFFORD, GLASSCOCK, GOODWIN, HUTT, JULER, KENT, MANNING, MITCHEL, OFFLEY, POULTER, SCOTT, SHELDRICK, VALLIS, WEBB, WEBB, WELLS, WILDERSPIN.

Dear All
I am still looking for a family of PRATTs from Great Shelford, I have bought the Shelford Parish Records and have found a lot of information out but have lost (how careless of me) a specific branch of the family. I wonder if anyone can help or recognised the following names, I am going to post this in the Australia forum too as I think one son at least went there:
John PRATT married Elizabeth REMMINGTON in 1812 Great Shelford and they had the following children born in Great Shelford before Elizabeth’s death in 1831:
Remmington PRATT 1814 – Found stayed in Cambridgeshire running an Inn in Cambridge
Jane Remmington PRATT 1816 – Can’t Find
George PRATT 1820 – Can’t Find
Charles PRATT 1820 – A relative of Charles has posted a tree on the web which states Charles went to NSW and married there in 1840 – I have found a passage plus on the IGI there are lots of PRATTs with the middle name Rem(m)ington and father Charles PRATT - the tree does not mention any of the other siblings to Charles
Henry PRATT 1825 – Can’t Find
Louisa Ann PRATT 1826 – Can’t Find
James PRATT 1828 – Can’t Find (his cousin was born in the same year and is the one in Little Shelford, father Joseph PRATT)
The tree I found on line states John PRATT snr died in Australia and although I found a possible NSW index I never found the passage.
Please could anybody help me?
Kind Regards

Thanks Tigger, is that what I call you?
This is the same marriage as the gentleman had on his website and I found a Charles PRATT travelling to NSW in 1839, didn't lose much time did he!
John his father would have been at least 41 when his wife died, some of his children would have been only 5-10 years of age. They certainly didn't die in Great Shelford, the son I found that stayed behind married in Cambridge so perhaps that's where they moved?
I'll keep looking......I did try the NSW index but the only couple of PRATTs who died with the right names had the father as John but the mother as Catherine and ages were out.
Kind Regards
