"Ireland Calls" Spam

Just received a "wanting to get to know you" email from a name called vic. Said he'd got contact details from Ireland Calls website. I never responded and marked it as spam and it disappeared. Good riddance and beware opening anything from someone you don't know!

Yes there is, but I somehow doubt the spam is in any way connected to it!

As Vanessa says - if you don't recognise the sender (or at least know that you use a specific site which claims the mail was sent from) don't open it - just delete.
Be especially careful of unexpected attachments - even from people you know. It is easy to send them a quick email to check they sent an attachment.
Avoid anything claiming to be an "eGreeting" or other digital card type thing - there are a lot of spams using that sort of approach around still.

I have never heard of that web site so I was just curious. Its unfortunate that I probably will never look at it because of this "spam" even though I realize it likely is not connected in any way to "vic' the spammer....
I used to use one of the greeting card emails alot but once I started getting spam from someone copying them I quit sending the cards. Now I just send colourful emails on special occasions!

Lately I have been getting a lot of warnings from my virus-detection software that spam emails have contained a trojan.

Happily, they were removed, and I followed my usual practice of deleting the emails (even though most of them are telling me I have WON the lottery!)

We should all follow Mark's good advice - dlete, delete, delete - AND keep our security software up-to-date!
