Default Re drowning at sea from Huasquina

Hi all, can anyone help me find anything about a John Whiteman who was drowned from the Huasquina off Pemambuco, South America, June 13th 1866 age 21. We saw this on a grave stone at St Mary's Church Udimore. We think he may be a relative. I did find a John Whiteman who was a passenger on the Ganges Feb 14th 1865, arriving in Auckland, but as yet no luck with finding the Huasquina. I think it is spelt correctly, as the gravestone had been re-engraved.

    Thanks in anticipation.

There are mentions of the Huasquina on Papers Past, but for 1870. It says it is a Barque and lists its cargo.

I checked deaths at sea just in case but found nothing.

Have you searched the overseas indexes available on Findmypast? Also see here for other sources:

Please note the bibliography which mentions Tracing Births, Deaths and Marriages at Sea by CT and MJ Watts (Society of Genealogists, 2004). This should tell you all you need to know. I believe the book is available through Parish Chest.
