Angry EVANS 1865 Sussex to Victoria

I have discovered that my EVANS family went to Australia aboard the Rockhampton which docked at Port B (I believe this to be Port Phillip), Victoria in February, 1865.

I have been searching all the Australian sites and forums that I can find - actually, I have been floundering around! - to try to trace them after that date.

Please would someone give me advice. How do I find them after 1865?

    I will try anything (almost)

    Hello June,
A few Christian names & perhaps birth dates would help to find them on local BMD registry discs for various States, or Directories etc.

    Hello Wendy:

thank you for your prompt response.

I was not sure what Australian records are available, therefore didn't know what to ask for. Here are details of the EVANS family:

    John b. 1811 Washington, Sussex
    Jane b. 1814 Horsham, Sussex
    married June, 1832 Horsham, Sussex

    Children:
    Luke b. 1840 Horsham, Sussex
    David b. 1842 Horsham, Sussex
    Eliza J. b. 1845 Horsham, Sussex
    Marcus b. 1847 Horsham, Sussex
    Mary A. b. 1849 Horsham, Sussex
    Amos J. b. 1856 East Grindstead, Sussex

    Does this help?
    June
P.S. what kinds of records are available? I understand there were no census records kept.

Hi June, although I don't have a lot of access to all, there are several areas of search.

    Several online Passenger lists....

I tried these names on Sth. aust. Death records1842 - 1915 but found none. Now that the names are out there some-one in another State may be able to help

I can try Cemetery Records in most States which are also online.
The few Aust Electoral Roll lists 1901-1936 may not help but are worth a try.

I'll get back to you, & perhaps others with more 'Gen'.

    Happy Families

I seem to have found EVANS men with names of Marcus,(living with Marcus Snr & Jane) Luke & Amos James (also a David Amos) in the Victorian Electoral Rolls 1901 - 1936 along with other members at various addresses. Without Marriage details & following births tho' I can't be sure they are yours.

Needs input from a Victorian helper.

Could send on my notes if it'll help. You may recognise a name.
