    Smile Families I am researching

Good morning all from New Zealand ...Land of the Long White Cloud.
I am Ruth WARNER nee SYMONDS. Born in Perth Western Australia but married to a New Zealander whom I met in Canada.
Since my mother and daughter's death in 1983 I have been researching my roots. I have published, only for the family, 2 books on the subject.
1.. The Bolt Saga Revisited about my BOLT family coming from Cornwall to Fremantle, Western Australia in 1883.
2...The Quarrymen about my STREET family who were Quarry Masters in Somerset, England.

    Names I am researching are.
BOLT, BELSEY, BETTS, BLACK, BURROWS, CONNELL, DAVIS, FENNEL, FRASER, HARRIS, HAYES, HOPKINSON, HOURIGAN, LAMBERT, MORGAN, NORTHCOTT, ROUTLEY, SYMONDS, TERRY, WANSTALL, WARNER just to mention a few. These families are from Australia, England, Ireland, Scotland and New Zealand.

I have just returned from the UK and Ireland where I was very fortunate to visit DOON, Limerick and gleaned further information on my Irish family of HOURIGAN.
Would love to hear from any of you who may be researching the above names.
    Have a happy day.
    Ruth Warner

Hello Ruth and welcome to Brit-Gen

Have a good look round and post those questions of yours. Perhaps on your fossicking through the forums you could stop off at the Cornwall, Somerset and Ireland forums. I am sure that the people here will all try to help.

    Enjoy yourself!

Hello Ruth, I have some info on Anne HAYES who married Daniel HOURIGAN in Cork, Ireland c. 1900s. Children Annie May, Christina, Michael and Phillip. Daniel was a painter. (Hayes is my line, Anne was my g-aunt.) Let me know if there's any link.

Sorry don't know your name. Your Daniel HOURIGAN who married your HAYES connection in Cork, do you know where he was born?
    Thanks

sorry, I don't, as I said my connection is on the Hayes side and Irish records aren't brilliant. The Hayes at least were all from Cork. I have Anne's death cert which just says she was the wife of a painter. And I know they also owned a Butcher's shop. I have photos of Anne and one photo at a family wedding with some of their children in it.

Hi there, my great grandmother was Lilian Lavinia Northcott born 1912 Bristol, my gg-grandfather was Frederick Northcott born 1876 Bristol, my ggg-grandfather was Walter Northcott born 1848 Otterton, Devon and my gggg-grandfather was Mark Northcott born 1816 Otterton, Devon. My gg-grandfather (Frederick Northcott) had a cousin via his uncle William Daniel Northcott called George Vernon Northcott - he was apparently involved in founding The Northcott Theatre in Exeter. I am not sure if this is connected to you at all but if so, please make contact and we can compare/share information. Regards.

hi ruth, two of the names you mentioned you are researching are also on my list - one is black (that is my surname) and that family originates from fife, scotland, before they went to glasgow and then newcastle-on-tyne. trouble is there are so many blacks, i even had one black marrying another black in 1847 in kinghorn, fife, hopefully not related! the other name is lambert. i am descended from the lamberts of abbotshall fife, helen daughter of thomas lambert son of andrew lambert son of james lambert. let me know if any sound familiar, regards, lynne black
