    Default Henry Everett ba 1858 - 1863 Southwark/Lambeth

Can anyone please help me with finding out any information about a Henry Everett ba 1858 - 1863 in the Southwark area as there is no record of his birth on BMD.
The only information I have is on his marriage certificate dated 1 Mar 1884 to Anne Howe born 1866 - her birth was registered in St Georges Southwark. Ann is recorded as 18 years of age and Henry described of 'full' age on their marriage cert. Henry's father's name is given as Edward [deceased] on his marriage cert but that may be dubious as I am unable to find him anywhere on Censuses 1861 - 1891.
However, Henry is recorded living in Newington at 94 Alexander House, Blendon Row, East Street Walworth with his wife Anne and 4 children on 1901 Census but calls himself Samuel. His birth is given at about 1858/9 -but birthplace is stated as unknown
In 1904, on his son Henry John Everett's military service record, Henry John's next of kin are given as
Father: Harry Everett [ address unknown]
Mother: Anne Everett 88 Alexander House, Blendon Row, East Street, Walworth
Also listed are his sisters Sarah [my grandmother] and ''Nelly [Ellen] also living at the same address.
I have been searching for ages to try to establish his parentage and date of birth but found nothing but brickwalls.
Any leads would be very gratefully received

There are 4 Henry's listed on Free BMD in Surrey between 1855 and 1865.

The first is Henry Everitt registered in Rotherhithe in June 1855,
    not that far away. 1d/467

The next is in Croydon, so I doubt it.

Then there are two in Lambeth.
    Henry Everett registered March 1863 - 1d/267
    Henry Everitt registered March 1864 - 1d/279

Either are possible. Full age is normally 21 but many lied.

I will look further at the census but meanwhile there is a Henry Everett born about 1863 in Southwark in the 1881 census that was residing in Wandsworth Prison. He was a Stoker.
    Class: RG11; Piece: 660; Folio: 137; Page: 10;

What is his occupation on his marriage certificate? and the occupation of his father Edward?
Change of name on 1901 census... his full name could be Henry Samuel for instance.

    Default Henry Everett

Thanks very much for the help.
I have trawled probably all the Henry Everetts on the census and birth registrations
I have the birth cert of Henry born 1863 - father named Samuel who came from Ampthill in Bedfordshire and mother named Esther from Essex.
There is a record for the death of Esther in 1880 on BMD and Samuel is found in the workhouse in 1881- so this one could be a possible candidate for the father of the Henry in the nick in Wandsworth in 1881.
I favour the Henry in the nick in 1881 whose place of birth is given as Southwark - hence my reason for focussing on the Southwark area.
I will have another look at the Henry born in Rotherhithe and the one born in 1864 - as you say he could have lied, and Henry and his son Henry John were certainly rum characters.
Henry John was only in the army for about 7 months [1904-1905] and then he deserted. His record of service states that he spend most of his time in the army either imprisoned for nicking army equipment or AWOL!!!

Thank you for your kind interest in my research
Henry's occupation on his marriage cert is given as labourer. His father was just described as deceased.
He was described as a labourer on his daughter Sarah's birth cert in 1885
He was also described as a labourer on his daughter Sarah's marriage cert in 1809

Looked as the possibility of his name actually being Henry Samuel - he did not state this on his marriage cert, nor was it stated on his daughter Sarah's birth cert or her marriage cert in 1809.

However, there is a Henry Everett born ba 1862/3 on the 1871 Census - son of Henry Samuel Everett and Mary Ann living in George St, Camberwell - no birth record found on BMD for Henry junior.
After 1871 Henry Junior is not recorded as a member of the family in 1881.
There is a Henry Everett in Wandsworth nick in 1881 born about the same time -place of birth given as Southwark - his occupation is given as Stoker- which might possibly be Henry junior. Although 'Stoker' might be a specialised trade - I am not sure.

As you can see nothing seems to connect up at all!!

And don't forget Everett could be mistranscribed as Everitt or Everatt
