    Hi Christine

Many thanks for your trouble! Very interesting to find the same unusual surname located so close - I will see what else I can find out about them.

    Again thanks for your help

Yes, coming along nicely, I stopped recording those Garnetts, it seems to be coming from just the one line. Four hours yesterday and for the first time my arm got sore from winding as for two hours I wasn't finding any Randalls or my other associated names until half an hour to finish up time - I was right in the midst of their kids being baptized and I had to stop This is the bit where I might make the link to my Harwich ones, who appear from 'somewhere'.

Oh I know that feeling, until last year I had a 20yr brickwall with my gt grandmother who we believed had been beamed down from Mars in 1900. These Garnetts are her ancestors so that mystery has at last been solved - THANKS!!

    Default Harwich film here

Hi Marion, just to let you know that the next film has arrived, spent four hours on it today. I'll post full details later with references. (next week after Saturday's visit)
But we now have.... Saint Nicholas, Harwich, Essex
Marriage (& Banns) of Thomas THOMPSON and Sarah ROWLING: 21 Feb 1794
    Baptisms children of above
    Thomas b 1794
    Sarah b 1795
    Hetty b 1799
    Thomas b 1804
    John b 1805

Baptisms children to John & Susan THOMPSON
    Mary Ann b 1788
    William Daniel b 1790
    Abraham Jerimiah b 1792

Up to 1807, so should be getting to George, looks like Thomas and Sarah will probably be his parents.

Christine not a Garnett in sight

Thanks Christine. Looks very promising! Was it a busy parish - lots of baptisms? Or are they easy to spot? If not too busy, you might spot George's wife to be Charlotte who was born about 1810 (and I think might be TURNER) but I am most grateful for everything you have found. Many many thanks

Even the lack of GARNETTS is informative - if they wasn't there, they was somewhere else! ;-)

    Default George

    Essex record office ref: D/P170/1/10
    Baptisms
    Saint Nicholas, Harwich, Essex
George, son of Thomas & Sarah THOMPSON
was born Nov 17, 1807; and christened June 19 1808.

didn't spot a Charlotte Turner, but I can go back if I find her marriage later.
I've got a George Samuel born to George and Charlotte here in 1831, - next register book is of marriages from 1813. The GARNETTs have kicked in with the marriage of a Daniel to Elizabeth COUSINS Feb 3 1807. At least, I think it's Garnett. I have a Elizabeth Cousins Garnett buried Dec 23 1812, aged 14 days, and it is written pretty clearly Garnett. But you aren't expecting yours to be here yet, since your Daniel was born Norfolk? I'll keep writing them down until I can tell if they are in fact Garrett! but I dont think so.

You will have to bear with me while I write up from the scribbled notes when I have time Christine

    Hi Christine
Bingo on both families - this is the right Daniel Garnett & Elizabeth Cousins, their son Daniel was apparently born 1810; I didn't have any other children though. Thanks so much for George also, its great to confirm his parentage. It was George Thompson who later went to Norfolk and had some children there 1837-39. I have since discovered he was in Lincolnshire 1842-9 too.

I am so grateful for all your help. When you have time is fine, they're not going anywhere!
