please I can not find anything on my great granddad william o dowd or my granddad james o dowd before 1915. I was always told by my late mum that granddad james was born on a ship in new york harbour. this is the info I have been able to obtain up to now.
william o dowd died 13th april 1915 prescot age 49.
james o dowd married mary elizabeth greeley 4th march 1916 ages 24 and 19.
james o dowd died 1937 age 45 mary elizabeth died 1938 age 41.
granddad james also had a brother william henry who also died in 1915 age 22.any help or ideas would be very much appreciated Elizabeth a

My grandmother, Mary Catherine O'dowd (b. 1923-2000)
Mary Catherine O'dowd married James Unsworth, my grandfather, (b. 1916-2002)
Mary Catherine's (my nana) parents were James O'dowd and Mary Elizabeth Greeley

So my father's, (Paul Unsworth) grandfather on his mother's side would have been Jame's O'dowd. It is very interesting to think that my nana and one of your parent's were siblings!
