    Hi

After James dies Mary remarries to George Cookson a widow with 2 children found 1861 and 1871 Census with them
1861 she has Sarah Ann, James, Esther Ann and Joseph
1871 she has James, Esther Ann and Joseph with her
1881 she is with Joseph as Manager of the golden fleece Hotel

still looking for Sarah Ann and her father James on the 1841 Census but having a job to find them.

    Is this what you have

    Default Taylors/Rochdale

    Thanks Sandy.
I know quite a bit of Josephs [b.1853] life & the "Golden Fleece"& onwards.
I`ll check the IGI again as it`s a long time since I tried to find James b.1815 parents. It was difficult with a name like Taylor!
I have his marriage cert. to Mary & it said they were of full age.No help!
    I have a note I found & it gives James as 36 [must be 1851 census?]a shuttlemaker b. Rochdale.He also had a niece...Sarah Cocker,13,mentioned.A sisters child possibly?
Esther Annie probably married & if I found the right James, b.1846,he married Mary Alice Lawton & was an auctioneer.
By the way,I kept trying the FreeBMD & kept landing up in Ancestry & got nowhere.
Will now go & check the IGI again,

    Hi,
I really think this Joseph is mine.I found his marriage to Rachel Spencer in Manchester Cathedral,04/11/1811.James married his 2nd. wife Mary here too.
Although we don`t seem to have anyone named Rachel in the family,we do have Josephs[b1853] son William Spencer Taylor,b1876.[by his 1st.wife Martha Greenwood]
Of course his mother Marys 1st. marriage was to a Spencer & I always assumed that was the link to Williams 2nd.name.It`s beginning to look as though Marys husband & mother-in-law were related.
Can you believe that I was a Spence before I married!?
    Thanks again,
    Barbara
