    Smile Margaret Cole NEWMARKET SUFFOK

I never realized it was so long since I came on here, I have been researching my family tree for 30 years ,and it is still growing. Everything goes quiet for awhile, then before I know it, I get a tap on the computer screen and off we go again. I swear those ancesters upstairs are determined to keep me on my toes.
My main search for Ancestors has been centered on the Arnull a racing family from Newmarket/London and Germany, and even this week two more have come to light, who I had never heard of before.a Thomas Sperry Arnull and David Jack B Arnull. I would like to know more about them.
I have got folders upon folders of details of all my ancestors and I would love to share it if anyone needs to know anything about them, but I am still hunting. If anyone out there can find the father of Samuel Arnull 1722 That would be wonderful. That brickwall just wont budge.
The names I am searching are Acres, Arnull, Mason, Morsley,Brown,Musk, being the main ones, followed by Levell, Parr, plus all those intermarried to them.
If anyone wants to get in touch and I can help them in any way I will do my best to help out.

    Default Acres Family - Hertfordshire

    Margaret,
I have been trolling the internet for information sources for my research into the Acres family of Hertfordshire and noticed several contributions by you. My mother (still alive, and the research very much for her benefit) is the daughter of an Acres. Her great-great grandfather emigrated with his family to Adelaide, Australia in 1848. Their history in Australia since then has been entertaining as well as enlightening. Joseph Acres, his wife Sarah (nee Lawrence), along with their children, arrived in Adelaide in 1848 from Little Munden, Hertfordshire.

I am now attempting to push my research further back to her ancestors in Hertfordshire. I have basic information only for her emigrant ancestors' parents, and nothing more that is substantive. Joseph's parents were Joseph and Elizabeth (nee ?) and Sarah's parents were George and Charlotte Lawrence (nee Goddard). All were resident of Hertforshire.

I note that you have records going back for some decades/centuries? and perhaps some of your information could be useful to my research. I am happy to provide you with the Australian Acres information

    Kind regards,

    Rod London

Hello Rod Thanks for your letter,Yes I have quite a lot of information on the Acres Family, Sullins Acres was my Grandfather. It is quite uncanny that today I had my cousin visit me and her maiden name was Lawrence. So there could be a double take there. I have been looking through my files of Acres and at this moment in time I can only find one Joseph born 1774 which would make him 74 before coming to Australia. So I dont somehow think it is him,so bare with me and I will see what I can come up with on Ancestry. There is quite a lot of the Acres family that i donthave as they all had big families in those days .Let me do some checking for you. Margaret

Hi Margaret, many thanks for the details. Our Joseph Acres of 1774 fits our time frame with my Joseph, the younger, being born in 1805. The name Joseph is prevalent in this family line and it doesn't surprise me that his father would also be of the same name. 1774's Joseph's grandson was also named Joseph and his son, John Joseph went on to serve at Gallipoli and the Western Front (winning a Military Medal) in the process. John Joseph, himself had a son, John Joseph.

I do get the impression that the Acres family was quite extensive in Hertfordshire, and I need to be careful in ensuring that I am correct in identifying the relevant family lineage. I think though that your Joseph might be the missing link.

Once again, many thanks for your response and assistance. Should you require any details on the Acres family that I have uncovered at the Australian end, I would be happy to pass them on.

As an aside, my paternal ancestors (name London from the Lambeth area, is proving quite a task. London in a Google search isn't helpful. Still, it is a worthy challenge fo the coming months.

    Regards, Rod

G'day Margaret. No problems, I have had a few issues that have taken me away from my family research project as well. Once again, Margaret, my sincere thanks for your offer to help me with the research - on my father's side as well. I am not yet in touch with Pat Slugoski but would like to do so. I can be reached on rodlondon at bigpond.com or rod.london at bigpond.com. I have been able to track (basic information only) on my Acres lineage to Joseph Acres and Mary Lowton (both born in the 1670s). My hope is to put story lines around the details that I have gathered. I have done a Google earth visit around Little Munden (where my Acres seem to have been based after moving from Nazeing, Essex (probably in the early 1700s). The countryside and the Church of England Church at Little Munden is truly impresive. For the Australian connection, I have uncovered interesting subplots like divorce, bankruptcy, odd marriage arrangements and an example of distinguished war service in WWI. On the London side, a little more difficult, I have reached Alfrad London (b. 1837 Herefordshire) and his wife Marianne (unknown surname), so of course if you can assist I would be grateful. Kind regards to you. Rod
