Does anyone know how to get IGI255 to work under windows XP.
This is one of those dos based progs, that no matter what I do I cant reload under XO. The XP compatability wizard just goes round in circles.
Cheers..Ed

Just in case the lack of response means there are no experts out there (I'm not one), can you tell us what IGI255 is/does? Someone might then be able to suggest a possible alternative that will work with XP.

I suggest you download it again from
www.
uvpafug.org/software.htm#IGI225
and try re-installing it seems to run ok on my computer, but I did not try it with any data.

Thanks for the suggestion Guy, but it still would not load. The compatability wizard on my machine always presents me a virtual catch 22 with these older progs. the programme needs to be loaded before the wizard will assist, but of course the main OS will not let them load !!!!.

The compatability wizard should not run until you ask it to, has it been moved to run on start up?
If I understand correctly you cannot install the programme at all.
If the prog. is installed right click on the IGI255.exe icon and delete the tick in the compatibility box.

Guy seems to be far more knowledgeable on this than I am, so it might be best to see if he can help you sort it out first. Otherwise... I seem to remember there is/was a Windows program called "LDS Wizard" which might do the same thing, but I haven't used this kind of utility myself. Failing all else, you might find something in the software section at Cyndi's List - lots of free utilities there.IGI 255 is a small dos based database programme that you can use with IGI entries to sort them in ways that you cannot do on family search, nor indeed in yoo are in a FHC and using the CD versions. Sorry I can't help any more,
Arthur
