Hello there, my family history research started about 3 years ago.
I had a helpful start as a cousin gave me heaps of information, collected various family branches and have shared all with anyone who has requested information. my mother's
I live in Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle, NSW.
Regarding my mother's paternal side, I found cousins that didn't know the rest of us existed. Found them by letter writing and phone calls. The site was recommended to me by a 3rd cousin.

Greetings Lou,
Good to have you aboard.
It sure is handy when you have someone who has already done a lot of research. I took over from my Mum.
Have a look around and if you have any queries post them on the relevant board. There is usually someone who can provide assistance.

Hello Lou

Welcome to Brit-Gen forums, I am sure you will love it here. Nice bunch of people, lots of Aussies here too.
Port Maquarie looks a lovely place, my son and his family have been living there for a few years now, but I have not managed to visit. I think number one son chose it because of the lovely weather.
Good luck with your research.

Hello Lou H and welcome
I am also at Lake Macquarie.
ChristineR - Port Macquarie is a couple of hours further North from our beautiful lake and beaches and is another pretty spot. Your son has certainly picked well. We are in the Newcastle area.
Must be great Lou to have a bit of a start with your tree. It took me 4 years to even find anyone else doing my paternal birth line.
If you need Australian research then ChristineR always amazes me with her knowledge of Australian resources and the last few months has seen so many other Aussies come to the site.
See you around
Christina

Hello ChristineR
Thanks for the welcome too. Port Macquarie is a wonderful place. Been there to visit, but I live in Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle. Easy to get mixed up!
I'm enjoying the replies already, so many of them. Nice to feel welcome. Hopefully I can be of help to someone on this website also.
