Hello all
Two of my surname interests are the DIX and ALP families.
Alfreda Beatrice DIX was born in Co Durham c. 1898 but her family came from Norfolk. Her father was Alfred DIX, grandfather Ansell DIX who married Mary Ann HENDRY in 1860. Ansell's father was John who married Elizabeth HOWARD. Her parents were Lake HOWARD and Elizabeth, born c. 1770 and c. 1775 respectively.
Alfreda's mother was Louisa Isabella ALP born in Chatham Kent 1863, father John ALP mother Susanna. The family had moved to Gateshead by the time of the 1881 census.
I've just started on these two parts of the family tree so have limited info as yet. Alfreda married William MONTAGUE in 1921 but I've no info at all on that side of the family.
