Sorry Barbara, I'm going to admit to defeat! Still 20 more to go, and I have run out of time. I shall be interested in seeing the answers, and well done to whoever wins......!!!!

Time's running out .....!
Although I cannot see myself checking these at midnight - so in reality, you have probably got until the morning!

... and someone took advantage of that!
Thanks to all who took part and all who said they enjoyed it but could not finish - maybe there were too many questions ......!
Nobody got all the answers right, but two of you got 49 out of 50 - and I think that is brilliant!
Shame there can only be one winner - selected out of my 'red hat' ..... and that is
salcat
Congratulations!!!!
If you PM Bo Peep - I am sure she will send you the prize!
For those of you who want the answers I'll put them on the next post!
Thanks for taking part!

Thank you very much Barbara, I enjoyed doing it.
As I said in my PM, my other half can't see the point of competitions but he doesn't like crosswords or puzzles either, and definitely doesn't understand the family history bug
Once again thank you for organising it, and to Bo-peep and Parish Chest for the prize.

Well done Sally! It was fun to do, wasn't it?
Actually I think my love of cryptic crosswords was my undoing in the end. Instead of realising that black pudding comes from Bury and I therefore needed Bury St.Edmonds (No.18) I got fixated on "not black" and therefore convinced myself I had to look for White and plumped for Whitby Abbey!Sue Mackay
