    Default Was there a Divorce?

My fathers mother may or may not have been married to his father. On his birth cert. it shows Ernest Grainger as his father. In the 1901 census for Wollaston, Worcestershire it shows her as his wife and his brother is on the census. The only marriage I can find is when she married George Thomas Davies Nov 20, 1904, 2 years after my father was born. It showed her as a spinster. I have a copy of this certificate. My father did not know about his birth father until he came to the United States. I have been unable to find any information on a marriage for Lucy Ellen (Nelly) Roberts and Ernest Grainger. Any ideas?

    Thanks

They may well not have been married, but do remember to search the GRO index for variant spelings of GRA(I)NGER.

If you want to check for a divorce, use TNA's catalogue
In the word or phrase field, enter a surname (again try variant spellings)
Leave the year range blank for the time being, unless you get lots of hits.
In the department or series code, enter - J77

Any trace of a death for Ernest GRA(I)GER in the GRO index?

Doees the birth certificate for the siling record the same information?
