    Default Blackpatch Birmingham

It has recently come to my attention from another relative investigating our families gypsy links that the family camped on Blackpatch in the 19thC before finally settling in the local area. The alleged links are to two gypsy families from Worcestershire-Smith Family and Jones from the Aberystwyth area.My grandmothers-grandmother only spoke Welsh.
My grandmother did read tealeaves, tell fortunes and on one occasion did a seance which scared me and my brother as we were 8+6 respectively.
Any info anyone has on the families who camped on blackpatch which is still there as a recreation ground as I understand when they were eventually stopped camping there some of the gypsy families cursed the place would be welcome.

    Hi Steve,
Have you seen the "Birmingham History Forum"
    https://forum.birminghamhistory.co.uk...ad.php?t=15694

There is a thread on Blackpatch Gypsies.
    Might be some useful contacts.

    Michael
