I guess he was a Private in the Liverpool Regiment of the army and either he was in the regular army or he enlisted when war came and if he died in France in the war his name will be on the CWGC site.
You can put a search in Google for this.Marie

I am presuming he was a private in the Liverpool Regiment, and was killed in WW1? If so, there is a William Albert Fletcher on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site at http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_...asualty=166268
Might be your man
Best wishes

Hi Cirsty
This may well be your Great Grand Dad:
William Albert Fletcher, Service # 26966, 1st Battalion Kings (Liverpool Regiment) Birthplace Liverpool, Enlisted Liverpool, Residence Liverpool.
Died of Wounds 26 September 1915, Burial Reference I E 16, Chocques Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. As he died of wounds he may well have been in the No 1 Casualty Clearing Station and received his wounds at the Front at Bethune. The War Diaries may be available from The National Archives, however, in my experience Other Ranks are not named individually.
