A Brown Saddler made riding saddles as opposed to a Black Saddler who made driving harnesses.

Default Kelly's Directory of the Leather Trades

I'm not sure when your family members were active, but Google Books has a Full View version of Kelly's Directory of the Leather Trades for 1885 (as well as 1880 ). You can search through it on the Website to find someone or, if you want your own copy, download the entire volume as a PDF file (103.7MB).
