That's what I've come to call the time period between 11:30pm and 11:45pm EST (aka 4:30am and 4:45am in the UK). The reason is that on several occasions I've been taking a last look around Brit-Gen at that time, just before retiring for the night and been faced with an error message and no Brit-Gen to be found. It always comes back [phew] but I wonder why this happens. I am guessing that there is some sort of scheduled maintenance at that time, but if not, then maybe there are gremlins....

Hi Both,
Although I get up everyday between 4.45a.m. - 5.00a.m. (UK time) ...... no, I'm not volunteering!
Think Zombie and that's me ...... just manage to have two cups of tea and then watch the birds having breakfast in the garden. I usually *come round* one hour later, then I turn on the computer.Best Wishes,
Diane

I am sometimes still about at that sort of time (depends on how clear the sky is!). If I am about, I will check up what is happening. It could be the server doing a backup job causing the loss of access for a short time I suspect - it may be worth asking the tech chaps if they have a cron job set for 4.30am. It would fit with the 15 minutes downtime perhaps.

Maybe its your server that's doing something. I'm in the same time zone and I haven't had troubles at that time of night.

Pipsqueak
...YOU'RE RIGHT!!!
only it happened a little sooner. At 11:24pm EST I went to submit a reply to another thread and I got a notice that said DATA BASE ERROR and proceeded to say that the Brit-Gen forum tech staff have been notified of the failure. it suggested I go out of the site then go back in and try another link. I tried that also... I could log in to the home page, but could not open any links...got the same message.....
11:32pm EST I was able to link back in, but I've lost the other post I wanted to submit.

DIANE...
You're much more talented than I am, but that's exactly what I got!!! Just happened again, but only for a minute and right after I sent the previous post.
Sue
AND again when I went to send this. Now its 11:43 EDT, now 11:45 EDT
Please note I should have put EDT in my last post instead of EST.

Well it happened briefly at 11:31pm so I grabbed a screenshot.

It is now 11:38 and each time I try to post this - I get the error message again. I am now going to do a copy and paste so that I can post this when it comes back!
Am I alone???
...........................................
OK - I'm back! It's 11:46 and I can post again!
I am SO glad I'm not the only one! Hubby thinks that somewhere between here and there there is a server or something undergoing routine maintenance. Clearly not here since the teenagers and me are all online!
